.500 Caliber

The Power of .500 S&W Magnum Bullets

The .500 S&W Magnum was co-developed in 2003 by Cor-Bon and Smith & Wesson for the X-Frame revolver. When loaded in S&W Magnum cartridges, a 500 S&W Magnum bullet produces one of the most powerful loads in any available handgun cartridge. This is a big bore built for serious work, and it takes a frame revolver heavy enough to handle the pressure.

At Berry’s Bullets, we manufacture superior plated bullets built for accuracy, dependability, and value. Whether you are loading for target practice, handgun hunting, or backcountry protection, our .500 caliber collection gives you a clean-shooting, affordable bullet for your magnum revolver.

I’ve been reloading 147 and 158 grain for a long time for my subsonic loads but recently discovered I can make 115 grain subsonics that cycle in semi automatics. These do t drop as soon because they are much lighter,…

500 Magnum Bullets Built for Large Game

The .500 caliber is built for maximum stopping power. Whether you need protection from a grizzly bear in bear country or you are on a handgun hunting trip for black bear or mountain lion, a 500 Magnum bullet delivers the deep penetration large animals demand.

Penetration is what matters against dangerous game. Heavier bullets generally drive deeper, which is why the heaviest bullet in a caliber is often the pick for the biggest animals. Berry’s plated bullets give you an edge over a traditional hardcast bullet at a lower price, with far less fouling.

The round shoulder profile feeds smoothly, whether you run a double-action revolver for fast follow-up shots or a single-action platform. That makes these a solid choice for bear country carry and big game at close range.

Choose Your .500 Caliber Grain Weight

Berry’s offers two bullet weights to match your needs.

300gr Round Shoulder

This lighter grain option gives you higher muzzle velocity and works well for target shooting and practice. The faster speed keeps it effective while staying manageable behind a powerful handgun, which makes it the easier of the two to shoot in volume. It loads in both the .500 S&W Magnum and the 50 AE, so Desert Eagle owners can use it too.

350gr Round Shoulder

This heavier bullet delivers the momentum serious work demands. Loaded in your magnum revolver for hunting, the 350 grain gives you confidence facing large animals when it counts. This is the pick when deep penetration is the priority.

Our Bullet-Making Process

Every Berry’s bullet starts as a swaged pure lead core, formed under high pressure so each core carries the same weight and density. This removes the variation you can find in some cast bullet production.

That core is then electroplated with copper. The plating bonds to the lead and fully encases it, so no lead is exposed at the range, and the bullet fouls far less than a bare hardcast bullet.

After plating, each bullet is re-struck through a die to bring it to a true 500-diameter bullet and exact overall length. Every bullet is then inspected for size, weight, and plating before it ships.

A note on velocity: our .500 bullets carry a thick copper plate and a stated max velocity of 2,000 fps, built for the high muzzle velocity and muzzle energy this magnum cartridge produces. Use published load data for cast or jacketed bullets at the same grain weight and profile. Start low, work up, and do not exceed 2,000 fps, since overspeeding a plated bullet separates the core and hurts accuracy. Use a taper or light roll crimp, and do not over-crimp.

Why Choose Berry’s .500 Caliber Bullets?

Our superior plated bullets deliver strong performance next to a cast bullet at a more affordable price. The copper plating cuts barrel fouling and keeps your big revolver cleaner, and both grain options deliver consistent muzzle energy shot after shot.

Whether you are building loads for target shooting or getting ready for hunting season, these bullets handle the pressure of a powerful handgun reliably. Two proven weights give you versatility without giving up quality.
